DocPoint brings filmmakers from Finland and overseas to Helsinki!

25th DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival begins tomorrow Tuesday 3 February, and documentary films will be celebrated in Helsinki’s cinemas until Sunday!

In addition to watching films, DocPoint offers its visitors an opportunity to meet documentary filmmakers and learn about them and their thoughts. During the week, several filmmakers from both Finland and abroad will arrive as guests of DocPoint, and they will be available for Q&A sessions organized after film screenings.

Guests arriving at the festival include, among others, Gianluca Matarrese (Q&A Feb 4), who directed the film GEN_ and has previously visited DocPoint, Déni Oumar Pitsaev (Q&A Feb 6 and Feb 7), the director of the Cannes-awarded film Imago, Mayfe Ortega Haboud (Q&A Feb 6), the producer of the awarded film Light Memories, and Wes Orshoski (Q&A Feb 7), the director of the film Di’Anno – Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer. Filmmaker guests will also be present at screenings of several Finnish films. For example, Ann-Mari Leinonen and Einari Paakkanen, the directors of the film Invisible Enemy, will be present at the screening on Feb 5, and Jenny Kivistö and Jussi Rastas, the directors of the film Silent Legacy, will be available in connection with the screening held on Feb 6.

You can find the films with Q&A sessions on our website from the Films view by selecting the keyword “Guests”. Precise information on which screenings include a Q&A session can be found on the film’s presentation page after the introduction text.

Note that some films have multiple Q&A sessions. For example, Kristina Shtubert, the director of the film Abode of Dawn, will be present at the screenings held on both Feb 4 and Feb 5. Janus Bragi Jakobsson will also be available after both screenings of the film he directed, Amateurs’ Paradise (Feb 4 & Feb 5).

Please note that the festival’s schedule is subject to change. For up-to-date information, please check the films’ presentation pages.
